What if the brain had its own interior landscape, waiting to be explored?
An imagined inner universe entirely of her own creation.This book presents the artist's original cosmology, turning the narrative gaze inward, treating the mind as a living theater and cognitive processes as terrain.
Drawing on the language of popular science, it unfolds across four of humanity's most enduring and unresolved questions: matter, life, the universe, and consciousness.
The work does not seek to answer these questions, but to make them feel inhabitable. By giving abstract thought a physical geography, it invites readers into an inner journey that moves fluidly between reason and wonder, between the rigor of inquiry and the openness of imagination. It is, at its heart, a travel guide to the self.

The Theater of Time and Light

The Changxin Palace Lantern is one of China's most celebrated Han dynasty bronzes, excavated in 1968 from the tomb of Dou Wan in Hebei Province and now housed at the Hebei Museum. Cast in the form of a kneeling palace maid holding a lamp, the object is remarkable not only for its craftsmanship but for its ingenuity: the maid's hollow body serves as a ventilation system, drawing smoke through her arm and into her torso to keep the air around the flame clean. A lamp designed to give light without leaving a trace.Xinyuan Zhan's picture book takes this object as its narrator. Told from the lantern's own perspective, the story follows its journey across more than two thousand years: from the moment of its casting, through the hands of successive noble households, witness to the rise and fall of dynasties, to its long sleep in the dark of a tomb, and finally its rediscovery in a new era.

Through the lantern's eyes, the work meditates on the relationship between individual objects and the sweep of history: how a single life, human or otherwise, is both fleeting and enduring. What burns out. What remains. What it means to carry light across time.
